Unmissable Ideas For a Baby Shower!
I have always wondered what a Baby Shower truly entailed, that was until I got invited to one! Basically you bring gifts, eat and drink and play games with your friends in honour of the future baby.
As I am native French, I was a bit sceptical. In France, throwing a baby shower when you are expecting is actually unpopular, just because it’s not part of our rituals and traditions to celebrate the pregnancy.
However it is common to receive presents after the birth.
I am not sure that the women of France will be changing their habits in a hurry! However I did come to realise that it’s just another excuse for a party and gifts! I do like that!
Therefore I have collected a few essential and cute ideas to be ready for those future baby shower events…just in case!
Afternoon Tea Theme That Is Truly Divine!
A splendid afternoon tea – very British indeed! But remember to keep the baby shower gender neutral – just in case they haven’t found out what they’re having. A great way to do this is shown in the image above; lovely yellow and blue decorations with flashy centrepieces and vintage candles. It brings out a touch of class that I personally like.
For the larger showers, you may want to think about disposal plates and cutlery to minimise the washing up.
Cupcakes That Call Attention To The Mouth And The Eyes
A baby shower without cupcakes seems totally unimaginable (especially in Britain – Cupcakes have become so popular that they could compete with croissants in France)!
So, why don’t you buy a box of cupcakes and customise them according to the color scheme of the shower?
You can find tons of edible cake decorations, from love hearts to bumble bees. Choose from yummy vanilla cupcakes frosted with chocolate butter cream to classic lemon and apple cupcakes topped with handmade baby shower decorations…a delicious time to get creative!
Baby Shower Cards That Speak For Themselves
Creating adorable baby shower cards could become a dilemma if you don’t know the gender of your future baby, so making them simple, cute and neutral is certainly your best option.
You could use a blank card or even reuse a greeting card, then get creative by customising the invitation. This could be done using different fabrics, ribbons, felt, and stickers as well as incorporating other crafty touches!
Fancy Gifts That We Use, And That Remind Us…..
Your guests will bring gift baskets and other presents to the baby shower. As you can see, it’s all about opening the presents and chatting over a nice cup of tea.
But why don’t you offer them a lovely present as a souvenir? I came across these lovely soaps shaped like animals, hearts, flowers and butterflies; you can choose these to match your baby shower theme. So cute!
Are there any other essential points I’ve missed for a lush baby shower?
